Every day my new EverAfter continues
When I first met Bethany, I was in awe of her peaceful and yet gentle and firm guidance she gave my family through every step of one of the hardest conversations of my life - helping my dad make decisions about his burial. I will never forget how she held space for my mom, dad and myself that day. Our whole family felt her peaceful and supportive presence again at our dad’s burial.
Two years later when our mom passed away, I felt God calling us to invite Bethany to lead the service for her burial. She guided us every step of the way and made sure that our voices were heard. Again, she held space for us.
When grief knocked on my door to the point where it was banging so loud that I knew I must answer, I felt God leading me back to Bethany to guide me on the next part of my journey. I found out she just recently moved into the role of Spiritual Director with the focus of “A new ever after”.
1 year later, I am no longer searching for peace. I now know that I am peace.
When I have a moment where I forget where to find it and I start searching for it, I practice how to pause to find the peace within me. This is just one tool of many that I have learned through God’s spiritual direction in sessions with Bethany. “Pausing” is very powerful and God gave Bethany the gift to know when to tell you to pause, to stop and feel the deep emotion and to challenge you to find the source of that feeling. Then, she allows space for you to reflect and guides you in determining for yourself how to move through that feeling and source its importance.
Every day, my “A new ever after” continues to unfold in the ways I speak to myself and other and the ways I trust and confide in my friends and family. I have begun to set new boundaries for myself and I also create new beginnings.
I am aware now of the light within the darkness and dark within the light.
A Unitarian Universalist minister recently referenced Rumi and Resmaa Menakem in a message stating the following:
The healer helps heal the wounds.
The healing was the light.
The wound is where the light enters you.
I invite you to seek Bethany to be your healer as the facilitator between your source and you, to let the light heal you, and to open up yourself to let the light enter you and heal your wounds.
It is with tremendous gratitude that I recommend Bethany to walk alongside you to begin your “A new ever after”.
